The Continente Bom Dia Matosinhos Retail Park (in Perafita) has been inaugurated as a pioneering milestone in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning engineering.

At this store, RACE designed and executed the first installation using an innovative technology that integrates Refrigeration, HVAC, and the Building Efficiency by RACE management system, which monitors and supervises all technical installations, including the refrigeration system, air conditioning, electrical power management, water management, domestic hot water (DHW), smoke extraction, and fire dampers.

This integrated system, characterized by its simple and flexible layout, delivers high performance and efficiency while significantly reducing the technical areas required within the building.

Waterloop technology is environmentally friendly, featuring inverter compression and water condensation, reducing the refrigeration system’s refrigerant load by over 80% compared to a traditional installation, and achieving a high COP of up to 5.

The dry cooler, chiller, and variable-flow water condensation loop, shared between refrigeration and HVAC, ensure system stability and operate within the defined maximum performance/minimum cost tolerance. Designed for small and medium-sized supermarkets, this solution shortens installation time and ensures high maintainability—a decisive factor during operation.

After more than a year of R&D, all system components and their integration were tested at RACE Lab before on-site installation.
