The Lisbon Oceanarium, the proud symbol of EXPO 98, is undoubtedly an architectural landmark of the city with worldwide recognition. From a technical perspective, this building conceals an impressive world beyond its exterior beauty. Particularly in terms of creating thermal atmospheres that perfectly simulate the environments of different global geographies, there is a complex network of air production and distribution ensuring the viability of these diverse climates.

As part of the renovation of the existing HVAC facilities, RACE replaced the existing air handling units with more efficient equipment featuring a thermal wheel for heat recovery. This marks the second project RACE has carried out for the Lisbon Oceanarium, presenting another challenge to our capabilities — delivering the best performance and execution while not disturbing the daily life of the Oceanarium’s delightful inhabitants that captivate every visitor.
