Lionesa Business Center
RACE was responsible for the implementation of the HVAC, ventilation, and building management systems of the new FedEx building, located in the Lionesa Business Center. The project arose from the need to ensure thermal comfort and energy efficiency in a modern building adapted to the company’s operational requirements.
The implemented solution was based on a water–air system, using fan coil units in each space, connected to a heat pump (chiller) for thermal energy production and to a Fresh Air Handling Unit (AHU) for air renewal. Indoor temperatures are maintained between 20ºC and 25ºC, ensuring ideal comfort conditions for users. Spaces with permanent thermal loads, such as server rooms, were equipped with dedicated Close Control/Split-type air conditioning systems.
The building also features a Building Management System (BMS), which enables control and optimization of the HVAC systems, contributing to more efficient and sustainable operation. Fire protection systems were also installed in accordance with Portuguese regulations.
The project lasted 10 months and was completed in January 2023. The final result is an energy-efficient building with technical solutions tailored to FedEx’s needs, ensuring comfort, safety, and reliability across all areas.
