The Douro – Lamego School of Hospitality and Tourism was established in 2000 under an agreement between Lamego City Council, the Douro Sul Tourism Region, and the Northern Region Coordination Commission, as part of the Douro Valley Tourism Development Plan.

The building involved in the intervention, one of four on the school campus, spans two floors: the ground floor houses operational and support areas, while the first floor contains classrooms for theoretical training and specialized laboratories, including the Sensory Analysis/Organoleptic Testing Laboratory and the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Laboratory. The school can accommodate up to 280 students.

Awarded in 2004 with an 18-month construction schedule, this project presented a significant technical challenge. Although not a large-scale development, its technical complexity was considerable, with all specialties managed by RACE (then SISTAVAC). It effectively served as a showcase for our integrated solutions.

RACE was responsible for the design, development, and installation of all technical systems for the project, covering air conditioning, central heating, ventilation, kitchens and associated refrigeration systems, as well as electrical installations. This intervention clearly demonstrates RACE’s versatility and technical expertise in delivering integrated solutions for educational environments with high functional and technical requirements.
