The InterContinental Porto – Palácio das Cardosas represents an investment of approximately €30 million by Solitaire Hotels, responsible for the acquisition, refurbishment, and outfitting of the building, managed by IHG – InterContinental Hotels Group. The 11,000 m² hotel features neoclassical-inspired architecture and offers 105 rooms, including 16 suites, a restaurant, the restored Café Astória, a bar, gym, wellness centre, and two meeting rooms, with interiors designed by Alex Kravetz.

RACE contributed to this project through multiple contracts, addressing the challenge of preserving the building’s historic character while installing modern, highly efficient technical systems.

The scope of work included HVAC installation (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), hot water production and distribution systems, electrical installations, and a centralized building management system (BMS).

Completed between 2012 and 2014, this project established a new benchmark for integrating climate control and energy efficiency solutions in Portugal’s hospitality sector.
