RACE was responsible for the design and implementation of the HVAC systems and the Building Management System (BMS) in the redevelopment and expansion project of the Glicínias Plaza shopping center in Aveiro. Starting in January 2020, this intervention lasted 24 months, with the goal of transforming the space into the largest and most modern shopping center in the city.

The project included expanding the building with two additional floors, increasing the gross leasable area to 41,000 m², with capacity to host 120 shops and 2,000 parking spaces. RACE ensured the installation of two chillers with heat pump function and 12 air handling units (AHUs), guaranteeing thermal comfort and energy efficiency in the common areas and new retail spaces.

The technical solution also included the supply of water for the air conditioning of the new shops, enthalpy monitoring per space, lighting control with a DALI system, energy monitoring of the entire building, and integration of the smoke extraction system into the BMS platform.

This project reinforces RACE’s ability to develop comprehensive and effective technical solutions for large-scale projects with high functional demands.
