Sonae MC inaugurated a modern Continente Hypermarket with 6,500 m² of sales area at the Nova Arcada Shopping Center in Braga. This €30 million investment created numerous jobs in the region. Part of the innovative concept of the “Hypermarket of the Future”, the new space stands out for its use of natural materials, such as wood, and for carefully designed lighting that provides a welcoming environment and a distinctive shopping experience. The store was designed to highlight product quality and facilitate consumer choice, with particular emphasis on the Fruits & Vegetables, Butcher, and Fish sections, reflecting a focus on national production.

RACE was responsible for the installation of an advanced control and monitoring solution, based on automation servers and a SCADA system. This solution ensures efficient and transparent management of technical facilities, promoting energy efficiency. Integrated functionalities include smoke extraction control, management of hot and chilled water production and distribution plants, ventilation, thermal energy measurement, lighting control, energy and water consumption analysis, monitoring of pumping systems, electrical panels, generator sets, refrigeration systems, and temperature history management.

The Continente Braga Arcada also benefits from full integration with the technical architecture of the Nova Arcada Shopping Center (formerly Dolce Vita Braga), highlighting the introduction of a new integrated BMS solution developed by Building Efficiency, combining HVAC, refrigeration, lighting, and consumption monitoring. The project was completed in four months, starting in November 2016, and included the installation of air conditioning, ventilation, smoke extraction, domestic hot water heating, and the centralized technical management system.
