At the end of 2023, the CFA – Açores Manufacturing Centers industrial complex was inaugurated in São Miguel, Azores, with more than 5,000 m² of gross construction area, bringing together three production units. This new industrial facility of Bensaúde Distribuição, focused on innovation and the valorization of regional products, is dedicated to the processing of meat, fish, and bakery products, intended to supply the INSCO retail chain in the Azores as well as the export business.

In this landmark project, which adopted the best refrigeration techniques from an environmental, operational, and maintenance standpoint, all main power equipment is equipped with variable speed drives / frequency converters, ensuring energy efficiency and extending equipment lifecycle.

For the refrigeration installation of this industrial unit, RACE designed and implemented an NH₃ refrigeration plant with MPG secondary fluid to supply the chilled chambers, processing rooms (AHUs and textile ducts), and circulation corridors, along with two subcritical CO₂ refrigeration plants dedicated to the freezing tunnels, frozen chambers, and ice production.
